Programs:

·        Rainbow Room

o   The Rainbow Room is an emergency resource center that provides critically-needed items for children including clothing, shoes, beds, car seats, formula, diapers, cleaning supplies, hygiene items and birthday presents.  Items are distributed through caseworkers.

o   The Rainbow Room has served more than 105,000 children since it opened in 1993.

 

 

·        Caseworker Appreciation

o   Caseworker Appreciation includes quarterly events to show appreciation and gratitude to the staff of Child Protective Services.

o   Past events include catered lunches, cookouts, ice cream socials and cupcake distributions.  During the holidays, the caseworkers receive a gift from Community Partners of Dallas.

o   Sponsored by Community Partners of Dallas board members, members of our women’s auxiliary, the partnership, and volunteers.

 

·        Kids in Crisis

o   This program provides emergency funds for transportation, housing, enrichment activities,

     clothing, therapy, and medical expenses for children in relative care or in their own homes.

o   Kids in Crisis serves more than 4,500 of Dallas County’s abused and neglected children annually.

 

·        Adopt-A-Caseworker

o   Established in 1990, this program enlists the support of area businesses, civic groups,

     and families to meet the specific needs of children who have been impacted by child abuse and neglect. 

o   In 2009, 12 CPS units were involved witht he Adopt-A-Caseworker program.

 

·        The Heart Program

o   The Heart Program is an internationally-recognized program that provides therapeutic group treatment

     to child sexual-abuse victims and their non-offending family members.

o   Victims of sexual abuse and their non-offending family members meet weekly for group therapy. 

     Victims are encouraged to participate as long as the therapy is beneficial.

o   Dinner is donated by groups, including Episcopal School of Dallas, Hunt Oil, National Charity League,

     Parish Day School and SMU Panhellenic Council.  Junior League of Dallas volunteers support the program..

 

·        StoryLine  (214) 446-2222

o   Our newest program, launched in 2006, Storyline is a phone line that children can call 24 hours a day

     to hear four different stories.

o   More than 500 children call in per month to listen to a story.

o   The stories change weekly, and are read by volunteers and local celebrities. 

 

Events:

·       chick lit luncheon

o   Signature event featuring popular “chick lit” authors held in the spring to raise awareness and funds (Spring 2011)

 

·       Change is Good

o   A fun-filled family event that encourages kids to collect change to change the lives of abused and neglected children (October 10, 2010)

 

Annual Drives:

·        Easter Basket Drive

o   Provided Easter baskets filled with candy, toys, books and stuffed animals to 1,755 children in Dallas County in 2009

 

·        Back-to-School Drive

o   Distributed school uniforms and backpacks filled with age-appropriate school supplies to 1,619 Dallas County children in August 2009

o   Sponsored by The Container Store, ExxonMobil, Minyard Food Stores, Sack’n Save, Whataburger and 99.5 The Wolf

 

·        Winter Coat Drive

o   Distributed coats to nearly 916 children in 2009

o   Sponsored by Fidelity Investments and our women’s auxiliary, the partnership

 

·        Holiday Toy Drive

o   Distributed two or more toys to 4,942 children in 2009

o   Sponsored by Peacock Alley
