Opportunities

Take a look at our calendar of annual activities and see what you can add to your personal, work, church, or even book club calendar this year.  It is fun to get a group together to make Easter baskets, collect school supplies, donate coats or even have a holiday party to collect new toys.

Teens: Check out THANKs, the CPD teen board!  We are currently accepting applications for the 2010-2011 academic year.

There is always a way to get involved in helping the abused and neglected children we serve. We have a variety of opportunities for individuals, families and groups to volunteer, from one time events to regularly-scheduled volunteer hours. If you are looking for a specific way to help, you may find it below. Or contact us to see if we can accommodate your specific ideas!

Please note that we do not work directly with the children in care of Child Protective Services due to confidentiality and safety requirements.

What's going on at CPD?

Individuals

The Rainbow Room always needs volunteers to mind the store and help with inventory and stocking. Some individuals have come up with other creative ways to help. Rainbow Room buyers scour sales racks for good bargains to keep shelves stocked. One Rainbow Room volunteer takes orders for birthday cakes and creates special, spectacular cakes for children who may never before in their lives had a birthday cake. Other volunteers simply open their wallets and hearts by adopting a caseworker. How would you like to help?

Corporate involvement

Many corporations rally their employees to pitch in and become partners with Community Partners. Fidelity Investments has had a Coats for Kids drive benefiting the Rainbow Room since 1993; Minyard Food Stores and The Container Store have massive employee and customer Back-To-School drives each year; Peacock Alley has drives for Back-To-School, Christmas and Easter baskets; Presbyterian Health Care Systems joined in on the Holiday Toy Drive. In addition, companies such as Guaranty Bank, Snuffers Restaurants and Allstate have adopted caseworkers and are able to provide large-scale support, such as furniture donated by Allstate for families in transition. What can your company contribute?

Church, school involvement

Many church groups, such as Eastridge Park Christian Church and Park Cities Baptist, have adopted caseworkers. Chapel Hill United Methodist Church makes a monthly donation of money and Northway Christian Church donates hygiene supplies. Schools such as Bradfield Elementary and Armstrong Elementary have adopted caseworkers, and Greenhill sends volunteers to the Rainbow Room as part of their required community service program. Kids help package hygiene kits, count inventory and prepare back-to-school backpacks. Can your group help?
