Kids in Crisis

Established in 2001, this fund helps children served by Child Protective Services for needs not met in other ways. Initially funded by the Crystal Charity Ball, among others, Kids in Crisis meets many categories of need: transportation, housing, enrichment activities, clothing, therapy, emergency needs and medical expenses.

Among the needs to which money from Kids in Crisis program is used are monthly bus passes to facilitate parents’ ability to get to work and meet other obligations; rent deposits; summer camp, musical instruments and other special lessons for children; clothing if a child changes sizes or loses clothing in a fire or other accident; and medical expenses, including prescriptions, glasses, and dental work.

Another critical need to which the fund will be applied is psychological counseling in cases where the child has been protected and therefore is no longer served by CPS, but still bears the emotional scars of abuse.

The Kids in Crisis fund helps more than 5,400 children annually. For more information on donating to this program, contact Paige McDaniel at (214) 624-7583.
